The Human Dimensions department has a long-standing tradition of actively contributing to higher education by engaging with universities. This involvement plays a crucial role in connecting academic research with real-world challenges. The collaboration includes teaching at institutions such as the Faculty of Science at Charles University and Masaryk University in Brno.
Most recently, Eva Horváthová has joined the team at the Institute of Sociological Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University. As part of this collaboration, she is helping to develop new courses for students in the Public and Social Policy program, with a particular focus on tackling today’s pressing environmental issues.
Starting in the winter semester of 2024/2025, Eva will be teaching a new course titled Environmental Policy Instruments and their Applications. This course, designed for both Czech and exchange students, will offer an in-depth look at the various tools and strategies used in environmental policymaking. It aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the economic principles that guide environmental regulations, while also offering practical perspectives from both the policymakers who design these regulations, and the stakeholders affected by them. By the end of the course, students will be better equipped to understand and address global environmental challenges like climate change.
This course is a part of a broader effort to enhance the environmental focus of the Public and Social Policy program. It has been developed with the support of the Environmental Module of the Master’s Program in Public and Social Policy at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, a project co-funded by the European Union’s Next Generation EU initiative.
We are excited to see how this collaboration will contribute to preparing the next generation of environmental policy experts and foster meaningful change in addressing global environmental issues.
