We all know moments in our lives when someone’s guidance, encouragement, or belief in us made all the difference. Now, you have the opportunity to be that person for someone else. 

Czech Globe’s Domain of the Human Dimensions of Global Change Impacts is launching a pilot cycle of a mentoring program, and we are seeking mentors to guide and support our doctorands and post docs on their professional journeys.

Why become a mentor?

As a mentor, you will:

• Help mentees identify their strengths, overcome challenges, and set achievable goals
• Offer insights that can’t be found in textbooks or online tutorials
• Build meaningful connections and form long-lasting relationships
• Encourage self-confidence
• Demonstrate different career paths and opportunities

Format of the mentoring:

The exact format will be agreed between mentee and mentor, but in general, it will be in the form of monthly conversations on topics that both find important or useful. These might include navigating work-life balance, identifying career development opportunities, dealing with conflicting priorities, etc. We are not expecting skills or topic training.

• Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per month – flexible to fit your schedule
• Duration: 6 months, starting from July 2026 – duration can be adjusted by arrangement
• Format: online, in-person, or hybrid – based on your availability

Who we are looking for:

We welcome mentors from all professional backgrounds, including research, business, government and civil society/NGOs, with a focus on 

• Sociological, ecological or political dimensions of climate change
• Sustainability challenges
• Environmental/sustainability policy
• Environmental/sustainability actions

Whether you are a senior researcher, teacher, business contact or someone with a unique personal journey, your perspective is valuable.

• Your name
• Your current role / organization
• Your field of experience
• What perspective(s) you might be able to share with a mentee
